DBT Skills Groups.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills were developed to help clients with emotional dysregulation, depression, anxiety, and mood swings. DBT skills group teaches clients how to get extreme emotions and impulsive behaviors under control and how to live a more balanced life. Research has shown that the DBT group is the most effective part of DBT therapy to reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety and mood swings.
DBT Skills Group for Adults
This is a six month curriculum with four modules that last six weeks each. The modules are: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Distress Tolerance. Clients must actively be in therapy with myself or another therapist, attend one orientation session, and make a commitment to participate weekly. Cost is $55 per person per group. Day and time: Tuesdays from 6:30pm-8:00pm.
DBT Skills Group for Teens
This group targets the unique needs and experiences of teens as they navigate middle and high school and struggle with anxiety, depression, and at times risky or dangerous behavior. It is also a 6 month curriculum. Teens learn the four modules listed above, plus one module called Walking to Middle Path which focuses on teens and how to parent them. Parents are invited in once a month to learn the skills with their teen. Cost is $50 per person per group. Day and time: Thursdays from 4pm-5:30pm.
